I took this picture my self to the blue collars that work in my office building.. I don’t know, but I am having these suspicious thoughts that these people don’t have a place to stay, and they spend the night on such benches inside the office building, because I keep on staying late, and I always end up seeing some of them around, although they stopped working since 3 pm..
I don’t know.. |

YA haraaam!!! I feel so bad for them. It's awful how the labor board lets these poor people suffer even though they know there's a problem.
They're better off sleeping in working areas than going back to wherever their company puts them.
Many many companies in Kuwait demand they pay money to bring them to Kuwait, then they give them the least paying job, most working hours without shifts, no food, no water and above all, cram them all in a 2x2 room.
Just when you think things are bad, they get worse. Those companies don't pay their employees for months (up to 4 or 5).
The government had "investigated" such inhumane practices, alas, it all a public scene and nothing was actually done, because all those who own such companies are "big figures" in this pitiful country.
I agree with MBH, and when the human rights association wrote about slavery in Kuwait, people got offended and denied it; this picture is a solid proof of inhumane practices by the sharks of Kuwait. Touché to that
As much as it’s sad to see them suffer, I still see that unsanitary and visually disturbing. It’s like homeless cases in my office building… think about it, if I was right, and they have no place to stay, and this is where they sleep.. where do you think they shower? It’s very alarming.. What to do to make things right??
almafrooth, they are waiting for their bus to pick them up at 6 pm or some other shift to take them to their dorm which is still not better than those benches.
i wonder when they are going to be treated like human who works with a diff. job.
(out of words wallah)
Nooni, it was a little after nine pm when I took the picture.. 6 pm has passed more than three hours ago.. :(
wey wa3alayya! how come they don't have a place to stay at!! wain ili yaboohom?! estaghferallah! il7emdella ya rabbi 3al ne3ma ili e7na feeha.
Do you really think that the "6 pm" bus takes them "home"?
It's more of a "bus from hell" journey to them, because they're usually taken to another place to work at.
I see such pictures everyday in college.
The Don, maybe you can ask them if they have a place to go to, why they're not going & contact their employer. But make sure you don't mention your company's name because that might cause the workers a problem.
Awww..
I'd say your suspicions are probably correct.
They do have a place to stay, or more accurately; a ghetto to sleep in where more than a dozen of them are cramped in a small room where they eat and sleep, if you are worried about sanitary issues Don, you should visit those rooms and see how unhealthy they are; most without windows, no there’re much better off sleeping on those benches.
jc=(
Everything mbh and ayya said is true.
Don, Please try to take action on this asap.....It would be wise to inform the Kuwaiti Organization for Human Rights about this observance.
The organizations' main aim is to "spread awareness among the population about human rights charters and documents and encourage them to respect basic rights of all humans, be they Kuwaitis or foreigners."
Lets hope they really live up to to accomplish this mission.
good luck
I'll see what I can do... :(
why dont u just ask them why they sleep there? or tell them off or something?
Id be bugged if someone took my pic when im sleeping lol
awwwww 7aarrrammm!!
I feel SOO bad when I see those workers. It breaks my heart!
And no offense to the rich, but it makes me wanna go all Robin Hood and steal from the rich and give it to the poor. Cause really, I believe that they deserve waaay more money than most people behind desks in this country ( At least from what I've seen).
Besides the fact that they're WAAAY underpaid, and i believe they desrve more rights than whats given to them, I really wish people here would be nicer to them and stop treating them like they own them...
Walla it's soo sad!
I saw a report on this issue last summer; I think it was the Sanousi show. Some municipality buildings were being used as sleeping/living quarters by the labourers with the knowledge of the district supervisors.
They do this to avoid the usual cramped/ filthy bachelor living quarters and also it must be for free (unless someone somewhere is renting out government offices to these labourers).
It is unsanitary, of course and more of these situations should be exposed. Without awareness, we cannot change.
