Me & My Regular Coffee..

I tend to wake up early these days, and on the weekends I always leave the house at 7 or 8 looking for what type of coffee I feel like having that day.. I end up in various coffee shops with probably one or two people inside, and most of them are not the staring type that we get if we get to go in the evening times.. well my choice that last weekend was to have coffee at second cup down town.. not realizing that banks work on Thursdays, I entered the coffee shop early and it was filled with people (I’m assuming working in the banks around the coffee shop)..

Anyways, I bought my coffee and sat down in the corner.. and with no fault of my own (yeah right hehehe ), and completely by accident (aha aha what ever ), I started over hearing a conversation between two (again assuming working in the bank next door) Kuwaiti girls talking.. here is the gist of what was said in Arabic..

Woman 1: When I drive around these days, I see lots of Indian women and Filipina women walking around and waiting for the bus, wearing the exact same style of cloths I wear.. I never used to see them up to date with fashion like these days..

Woman 2: yeah I know exactly what you mean, even the hair cuts that they are having is in style like ours, now the cheap ass stores, where you can buy a jeans for 3 KD ($10), import fake labels and with the same low waist cuts like the big brand names that we buy from..

Woman 1: WTF?? They are ruining it for us, I go to Europe and spend a bundle on top designer names, only to come back to Kuwait, and see the Asian girl working in the house next door wearing the same cut jeans and same style boots as mine on her day off.. it pisses me off..

Woman 2: why don’t they just wear plain clothes and not the up to date fashionable clothes?? it really pisses me off as well..

I took a glimpse to see how these ladies look like, and they were very attractive young ladies, but at that moment, they were the ugliest two girls I have ever encountered in my life.. because they opened their mouths, and I saw how they looked like from inside..

I couldn’t bare that conversation, so I stood up, and went to the Filipina girl behind the sales counter and asked her for the bathroom (an excuse to get away from where I was sitting) and as she replied, I smiled at her, and told her how beautiful she looked today, she blushed and thanked me, then went and sat on the opposite side of where the ladies girls were sitting..

PS, Todays Blast from my past is on the right hand corner.. you can listen to them all if you would like.. but today's song is for Metallica.. Until it sleeps.. enjoy..

i love going out early on the weekends for breakfast!! It's the best. Big mistake though going th second cup huh.....

Well to tell you the truth I couldn't stop laughing about the girls conversation. I have a tiny philipino working at the house and let me tell you sometimes when she goes on her days off she really lives it up. It's there only chance. I can't believe how vain those girls next to you were, like no one else desrves to dress up but them. They need a life!

#1: Napster killers or not Metallica freakin’ rocks! It’s a great way to start the morning and yes I am head banging as I type this out.

#2: The post was awesome their attitudes sucked major balls but it did give an insight to their personalities perhaps they would love to hook up with the swastika guy from last week. I'm sure you made the pinoy's day. That was sweet in lieu of the convo going on very clever mijo very clever!

PS: Don’t ya just love that stickam? Now that school is over I’m going to throw on some up to date tunes on mine.

Don i hate superficial girls like that, they think they are better then an indian or filipino cos they can afford nicer stuff, i mean to be honest it all comes down to prejudice, i bet if it was an american girl or brazilian or british or whatever theyl probably be saying how nice they look but cos these women come from poorer classes immediately they think they have some sort of superiority to them, stupid girls need to live in da real world a bit.

Don id loveeee a coffee but im ill and sufferin from terrible insomnia these days :( so all coffee is out of bounds :(:(:(

Blogger Purgatory said ... (5/24/2006 3:46 PM) :

you never hit on me

Blogger Desert Girl said ... (5/24/2006 3:54 PM) :

I think it's all about self-confidence vs. insecurity. SOME people think that they have to travel around the world to get the latest and the greatest labels to put on their bodies. The clothes don't create the person wearing them. Plus - it was probably the superficial girls' husbands/daddys paying for the designer clothes in the first place! I've had women walk by a store, then see my blonde friends and I inside buying things - and then actually have them push me out of the way to buy what I was looking at! Don't these people have their own sense of style/taste without having to emulate (talk about) ANYONE else?

Blogger sexygoba said ... (5/24/2006 7:29 PM) :

It's because of these derogatory mentalities our countries will never progress out of the 3rd World. (This was just an example, there are a million more) Money can buy everything and bring everything to us BUT the one thing it can't buy is an open-minded brain. unfortunately.

Blogger christina/ohio said ... (5/24/2006 8:25 PM) :

You know, right about then it would've been wonderful for one of them to have spilt their coffee right down the front of their designer duds. It's awful that people place a person's or their own value on what labels they wear. If you think about it, aren't the truely smarter ones the ones getting the same look for less money?

Blogger Tinkerbell said ... (5/24/2006 9:34 PM) :

what's so sad is that these 2 girls actually think they have a point..i wish u had gone over and said something to them :(

Blogger Jacqui said ... (5/24/2006 11:31 PM) :

I hate those girls, I swear the quality of thoughts in girl's minds these days makes me cringe deep down inside. I mean today alone, I got a glimpse at those teenage girls 15-18 year olds, all so snobby and spoiled that made me think of Pink's new song "Stupid Girl" :/ When will they grow up and realize that the clothes aren't what makes a person but its what is inside those clothes.

Blogger dishevelled said ... (5/25/2006 12:38 AM) :

I think they're jealous, because no matter how much money they'll spend on those outfits, people spending less looks better than they do. And no matter how much they pay to look good, they'll always be conceited, self-indulged brats :) Basically they put others down to feel better themselves.

And they prolly don't have much to do in life except think "oh where should I go this wedneday?"

Blogger removedalready said ... (5/25/2006 4:32 PM) :

I wonder what's the conversation like between men?! humm just kidding

I think everyone has the right to dress up, too look good not only the rich!

Even other brands do update their line. If they don't they won't be in business!

But gosh, the conversation between the two women shows how shallow they are!

Blogger Judy Abbott said ... (5/25/2006 4:52 PM) :

oh WOW i never met such an honest gilrs who are kuwaitis!!! airheads..

anyhow.. tell me how the hell they said this phrase in arabic, "now the cheap ass stores," ???

Blogger Robbi said ... (5/26/2006 3:07 AM) :

you know, I am with everyone who says it is a self-esteem issue...and I really feel sad for these girls. I am sure they were beautiful, intelligent, and funny if you really got right down to it but because of the environment and their exposure, physical appearance and material wealth are at the top of their value system.

Without struggle there is no growth. It's sad because parents want their children to have a great life but spoiling a kid only ends up hurting them in the long-run. I speak from experience in my own life and from living in affluent area right now. I can point out the kids with a sense of entitlement like a radar. And this kind of attitude is a learned trait just like any prejudice or bigotry!

My guess is that one of two things will happen, either these girls will live their entire lives in superficial oblivion or something life-changing will happen to make them grow up and re-evaluate what is really important in life.

and good for you for telling the phillipino girl she looked pretty! I bet it made her morning!

fun post ... that was funny ... ya flippons always always have been stylish I've noticed that ... plus whats your favorite coffee so far

Blogger The Don ® said ... (5/27/2006 10:53 AM) :

Mystique, hmm.. although I had so much starbucks in the past year that made me stop drinking their coffee.. but I still will try your suggestion.. ;)

Mia, you are my music lover twin.. Metalica is one of my favorite bands ever..

I guess you are the only one who really understood why I complimented the girl behind the counter, for some reason, many were thinking I was hitting on her.. hehehe.. I don’t know where they got that I was hitting on her..

Hiboona, exactly.. it is because they live in the protective bubble that their parents made for them..

Purg.. hmm.. getting jealous are we??

D Gurl, why am I not surprised? Hehehehe.. they pushed you out to get what you were buying cos you’re blond.. classic.. lol

Blogger The Don ® said ... (5/27/2006 10:55 AM) :

Sexygoba, these types of people are too busy looking for what ever it is that no one has in Kuwait, so they can feel special..

Chris, hahaha.. that would have been great to see them spilling the coffee.. but then again, I bet you that they would throw away what they were wearing and buy a new one from France.. lol

Tinkerbell, welcome to my blog.. :)

Well.. it is not my place to say anything.. I really didn’t (don’t) care for them at all.. I managed to change my seat to get away from that ugliness..

Disheveled, you’re on the money.. I think the same as you do..

NuNu, hehehe.. again, that wasn’t a come on phrase, it had other meanings.. :P

Blogger The Don ® said ... (5/27/2006 10:58 AM) :

Jella Bella.. hahahaha.. mo qa9dee.. :P

redENCLAVE, every time I encounter such things on the street, I come back here to the blog o’sphere, and find out that there are sooo many decent people around, I just don’t see them on the road.. it makes me have faith that everything is gonna be alright.. I just hope that the mentality of the ones over here will spread all over my country..

Nooni, the translation is as follows “7atta soog el mahaara ebee3oon markaat taqleed al7een” :P

Robbi, I think the life altering experience is very far from happening, cos these women weren’t young, late 20’s early 30’s, so basically that life changing experience is unlikely to happen, cos they are living like everyone else around them..

Mosan, I don’t have one place.. I keep changing from one coffee shop to another, so I don’t get bored from the same taste like what happened with me and starbucks..
