Hummer H1 (The Comeback)

Remembering the times when I drove by certain areas in Kuwait, I would see bunch of H1 Hummers parked on the sidewalk, unattended, without anyone noticing their existence, flat on the floor.. what happened between now and 6 months ago? Well, GM came out few months ago and decided that the company is going to release the last batch of fresh H1 alpha Hummers hot from the oven, and then they are planning to pull the plug on the project..

See, H1 Hummer is the dream off road experience to anyone who loves the feeling of being in a real off road car.. the production for the car was in full throttle for the US. Army. And in 1992, GM decided to try to introduce the car for the civilized roads, but because of the technology invested in it, it has always been expensive to own, which made it in a category of its own.. every year after 92, AM General (a GM company) was doing a real study of the market, adding and changing the car as they get the feed back from their customers and future buyers.. they added horsepower, and at one point, the company experimented with the idea of placing a gas engine, rather than the original diesel engine H1 has, but it wasn’t successful, so the production stopped, and the powerful diesel engine had a comeback with great upgrades from Duramax company that specializes in diesel engines..

Today, and after pulling the plug on the H1, and after that wonderful looking H1 Alpha that was displayed in showaikh (for the most ridiculous price of 50,000 KD, which is just plain stupid, I don’t know how these people think sometimes!!), people started running all over Kuwait to get their hands on one of the few that are available in Kuwait, at least they will own a piece of history, and because the prices of those H1 Hummers will increase dramatically with time, the demand has become vicious.. I looked for an H1 for a long time, and I used to try to think that the condition of the cars that are available in Kuwait is real bad, and needs allot of work, so I kept looking for a clean one.. and no luck.. until one was brought to Kuwait from Bahrain, it was hardly used, and was owned by some shaikh, so he kept it spotless, and serviced regularly, it was one that I couldn’t resist.. although it was just a little pricey when compared to the prices of the ones here in Kuwait, but I knew it is worth it.. Today, if you can find one, you will be one of the luckiest people in Kuwait, all the owners of H1 decided not to sell them, and off to industrial shwaikh to get them fixed, and some are getting pimped as well..

I took the one from Bahrain, and adopted it as a project, it is very clean, but I need to overhaul the whole car, not the engine, but its looks, cos that’s what I love doing, manipulate it in to an artistic piece.. here is a picture of the car when I got it, and pictures of the end project.. the project is called “Darkness Within"

when I bought it

while working on it

After a fresh coat of mat black paint

End Project from front..

end project from side..

end project "Darkness within" from the back

Looks good! Will look really good with the trailor hooked to the back taking the bikes on vacation with you. ;) OUCH! That works out to $172,920.63 USD. You can find the H1 here for alot less than that! That IS crazy.

Hey so should I be looking into buying them, shipping them to you and splitting the profit? ;) Let's see, this place has used ones for around $44,000+
http://www.lynchhummer.com/Pre-ownedpictures.html add $10,000(? estimating here,I do know what it costs to ship Harley's to Europe though!) That comes to $54,000, sell it for the bargaim price of $170,000USD,that's $58K each profit. BTW the site I gave you has new ones for less than the price they are selling used in your part of the world!
